4 Ways To Keep Tires Shiny and Black in the Winter

Anyone who prides themselves on how their vehicle looks will do everything they can to ensure theirs is always in peak condition. However, keeping up with a vehicle’s appearance can become a bit of a challenge in the winter. Between the slush and salt on the road, your car can get dirty very quickly—especially your tires. If you want to keep your tires shiny and black this winter, we have some cleaning methods for you to try out.

Wash Them Often

The first thing you can do for your tires is wash them as often as you can. It doesn’t have to be a thorough wash, but salt and dirt only become worse the longer you leave them on. If you’re proactive, simply running some water over your wheels will do the trick. However, if you fall behind or if the grime builds up too much, you’ll need to use soap and a sponge. Either way, washing your wheels will help keep them looking good in the snowy weather.

Apply Tire Dressing Products

Unfortunately, if your wheels have seen better days, there’s only so much a fresh wash can do. You may want to use a tire dressing, as well. These products give a much deeper clean to your tires that better reveals the dark appearance of your tires’ true color. You’ll still need to hose down your wheels first, but once you remove all the debris, you can apply this dressing to give your tires their much-needed shine.

Look for DIY Solutions

If you don’t want to go out and buy tire dressing, you can achieve similar results with products you likely already have at home. With the use of baking soda and vinegar, you can get your tires looking shiny and black in the winter in no time. Start by using a scrubbing brush to apply the baking soda and let it sit for approximately five minutes. Then, use your vinegar to spray the baking soda on the tires. Let it sit for another five minutes to let the reaction work. Once ready, you can wipe it down with your scrub brush to finish fully cleaning your tires. (Make sure you’re not getting any harsh abrasives or bristles on the finish of your wheel!)

Buy New Tires

If none of these methods help your tires look better, it might be time to buy some new ones. You shouldn’t jump straight to buying new tires, though. It’s best to try to fix the issue with one of the methods suggested above. However, if you just can’t bring that black shine back to your tires, it might be time to retire them.

With a fresh set of tires, the blackness of your tires will pop much more than ever before. Of course, you need to make sure you buy the right set to achieve this. Fortunately, WheelerShip is here to help. We have a set of Falken semi-slick tires for you to check out. If those don’t suit your style, we have plenty of other options on our site for you to peruse. Take your time to find the right set of tires for your vehicle.
